October Urology Appointment

. On the way to Seattle ....  We stopped at Burger King to get some cheap food, had some money on my paypal card and we were kinda in a rush when we went out the door.  Nathan wanted a cheeseburger - not nuggets - this isn't completely normal for him!  LOL....  but he ate it all an this is an ACCOMPLISHMENT!

It was a pretty Autumn day today :)

We were there early so Nathan played some .... top picture ... he wanted his shoes off but kept his braces on .. ha ha ...

Now.......  Nathan has his urology surgery in the beginning of August.  This surgery is never an easy heal for him.  He doesn't want to move for days because he has catheters in ...  We have been putting off potty training for the reason of this involves his boy parts.  We potty train but he's mostly in diapers because urine comes out in weird areas.  Regardless, after his surgery we have him more time to heal and just recently we decided it was time to try to get him out of diapers.

Well, one morning, I was in the bathroom with him and I saw he had three streams.  One at the tip of his penis, and two under going different directions.  So I was like.... what the heck...... right?   So I tried to grab the camera before he was done - but he was done.

So I caught a picture the next time.....

Normally I wouldn't normally even consider posting a picture like this but I wanted to share ...  you can't see a third stream in the picture but you can see two of them....

I showed it to Dennis after I took it and he looks at Nathan and says ... "You let your mom take a picture of you peeing?"

I gave him THE glare.  I did it for medical reasons ......

I walk away ...  I hear him say ... "Boys, NEVER EVER let your mom take pictures of you peeing!  She'll blog that shit!" .....

HA HA HA ....  while true, he was joking..... regardless, I just wanted to punch him in the head.

ANYWAY - I printed it off and took it to the DR with us so he could see ...

so the doc gets in there and Nathan announces "I NEED TO PEE" and grabs himself and starts to do the pee pee dance.  So ... Dennis takes him potty.

Doc says - "We'll let him do that and come back"

So Dennis gets back with Nate and says "Where'd the doctor go?"

I said "You scared him away."    LOLOLOL ...

Anyway - Doc came back, we talked, I showed him the picture...  he examined Nathan and then told us "Yes, there are definitely two more openings" .... so there are three all together.  Just like I saw and figured that morning.

I actually dreaded this appointment because .....  when I saw those three streams ... I knew it would likely mean he would end up having a FOURTH surgery down there.

So he tells me that there is a possibility that these two holes will heal up and close up on their own.  But if they are still there in 6 months ... then yes, it will mean yet another surgery to just close up those holes.  There won't be anymore reconstruction surgery or anything like that, it'll just be the closer of those two holes.

SO ----- one can only hope, not as extensive or harsh on him.  Hopefully we won't even need to stay in the hospital!

So we have to wait and see ....

Nova Chat 7 Goes to School ...

.

First off ... ignore my laundry in the background.   Secondly - this is Nathan checking out his Personal section of his NC7 ...   we are avoiding the buttons with - say - address, phone number, etc...   that is why I have some covered up and am directing him around them.  Otherwise he would have to play them in order.  Ha ha....

Today when I took him to school, he did NOT want to go .....  this is him saying "I'M SICK!!!!!"
He's telling me "MY TUMMY HURTS" ... ha ha... he's faking.
This was outside his room today ... had to take a picture of it......

We have a routine.  We drive him to school (if he took the bus he would be on it for probably OVER AN HOUR - at least 45 minutes - and for him, that would NOT be okay - he would spend the whole time crying.)   He eats breakfast at school.  So we go in his room, drop off his stuff (he's usually unwilling and sad if not crying) ....  we take his breakfast back to his room because it's quiet in there there... there isn't that many people and he can focus on eating.  He might be extremely pokey puppy about it all - but he eats.

Here he is sporting his noise cancelling headphones at school.  We need some at home - the definitely help him relax.

Later that day - we went to pick up Nathan from school!  He had taken his NC7 with him and we heard the speech therapist was THRILLED and wanted to know how to get it for the other kids.  LOL...  it was a long long process....

And I say - even though insurance hasn't agreed to pay for it - and we're "renting" it .. and trying to raise money to buy it.....  I say... now that we have it...   they are going to have to come knocking on my door and pry it from my cold dead hands (and Nate's) to get it back....

When we left school, Nathan HAD to carry his NC7 ...  course, he's busy shooting me with his M&M tube that Kaedyn picked up for him as a treat.

We opened it up and it was his NOVA CHAT 7 ..... Woohoo!!!   He was so excited!

We are just doing a rental basis right now - which is $75 a week ... but it's better than not having it!
